Interdistrict Champions - Hastings 17's

Hastings played against Manning at Laurieton Oval in the Inter District 17's Grand Final.

The Hastings team lost the toss and were sent it to bowl first. Hastings spin bowlers dominated the day and at one stage claimed 5 wickets for 9 runs between them. Pick of the bowlers was left arm orthodox spinner James Lobb with 4 wickets for 15 runs from 10 overs,  right arm off spinner Jack Gough with 2 wickets for 15 from 10 overs and right arm fast George Worner with 2 wickets for 24 from 10 overs. Manning managed 114 runs before they were dismissed all out and the Hastings team felt like they were on top.

In reply, Hastings played to the team plan with controlled batting at the start, setting up the innings beautifully. James Lobb opened the batting with a solid 22 runs before being dismissed when his team was on 75 runs. He was well supported by number 3 batsman Will Howard 13 runs. With Hastings in a dominate position in the game, Brad Jordan made short work of the target score, reaching it in the 30th over. Brad ended on 37no and was well supported by Mal Wrigley 12no.

The Hastings U17 team were undefeated this season and it was a wonderful way for our top age players to finish their junior rep years.

We would like to thank all the parents who helped out each match with scoring and setting up, the Hastings River Association and our sponsors The Westport Club & Reece Plumbing.
